Moving to another school essay

Everything changed that eventful afternoon when my mother told me that we were moving. I felt confused not knowing what the move entailed. Moving houses meant I had to go to a new school, something I’ve never done before. I’ve been in the same school system my entire life, and was nervous to start a new.

If you end up mentioning the neighborhood in which you grew up, the size of your house, the fact that you had a great big yard as a kid, or any other seemingly minor detail, you could end up sounding like a snob. There are, however, a few cases in which writing about your move is a good idea.

Moving to another country calls for some great degree of psychological preparation. This is especially the case when the move is pre-planned. In the unplanned moves, such as in the case of war, one might not have the chance to even prepare, since it happens so abruptly and the change is mandatory.

Personal reasons are fine, but academics need to come first. Stay positive. Don't speak badly of your current school. Emphasize what you like about your target school, not what you dislike about your current school. Be meticulous. Grammar, punctuation, and style matter.
